NoahSife.com has learned Lauryn Hill has been spending time on her hiatus being a housewife and a mom.
Right on the bicuspid of the ten year anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill one of the best albums of all time. People magazine talked to Rohan Marley, the father of her 5 children, about the whereabouts of the superstar. This is what he had to say:
“She loves [suburban life], being with her children, seeing them grow and instilling our teachings of righteousness to them,” he told People. “[She does] what regular people do: She cooks, shops, goes to restaurants, regular things…She became more in tune with the earth.”
He also respond to reports of the singer going through depression and insanity:
“Down and depressed? No,” Marley said. “They tell the record label, ‘She’s crazy,’ and then the next minute they say, ‘Oh, Rohan, can you call Lauryn [for me]?’ It’s hypocrisy.”
Lauryn Hill was once touted as the savior of Hip Hop. A double threat who could rap and sing with the best of them. But some odd appearances and almost a decade without some real quality music has left fans scratching their heads why? I have heard reports that The Miseducation was forced on her. That the label heads commercialized her sound. She said this to Essence in 2006:
“People need to understand that the Lauryn Hill they were exposed to in the beginning was all that was allowed in that arena at that time. There was much more strength, spirit and passion, desire, curiosity, ambition and opinion that was not allowed in a small space designed for consumer mass appeal and dictated by very limited standards. I had to step away when I realized that for the sake of the machine, I was being way too compromised. I felt uncomfortable about having to smile in someone’s face when I really didn’t like them or even know them well enough to like them.”
Lauryn is like a supernova. Which can radiate as much energy as the sun, but dies out after a few weeks. She is that powerful that she captivated the whole world for a brief second then dissappeared. Flashes of greatness is what I call it. Sometimes people are so enamored by their success that it scares them and makes them retreat. Your natural inclination is to run in situations like that but your really supposed to run towards the pain.
Embody your fears and dicomforts and stare them right in the face. Analyze what makes you uncomfortable and destroy it. Believe it or not it never returns again. Lauryn Hill is one of the few artists that exist that give hope to other artists. People feel her music from The Fugees, to The Miseducation when she talks people get inspired. I don’t think Lauryn was wrong for going on hiatus because her family needed her. What sucks is the void she left, and the constant thought of what if? What if she would have stayed and released four or five albums in that time period?
The world will never know. I was happy to find out that she is planning a HUGE comeback. This is what Rohan had to say about that:
“She writes music in the bathroom, on toilet paper, on the wall. She writes it in the mirror if the mirror smokes up. She writes constantly. This woman does not sleep”
The world loves Lauryn Hill, I hope her comeback is as powerful as the imprint she’s leaving on her kids lives that family is the base of any good human being. i wish you all the success Lauryn….
